The original no-cut undercoat rake
The Twin King 2in1 Original is where it all started. This is the classic version of our famous undercoat rake, with the signature grey and blue plastic handle. It remains one of our most-loved tools, trusted by groomers and owners who want an effective rake that simply won’t cut the coat.
Design and tooth spacing
This rake has two rows of teeth. There are 12 hooks on one side and 23 on the other. The spacing between teeth is approximately 2mm and 4mm. That’s the same layout as our Big Pro version, just with a plastic handle instead of steel.
If you need an even finer touch for very dense or delicate coats, our Fine TwinKing 2in1 has 20 hooks on one side and 40 on the other, with a much tighter spacing of approximately 1.25mm and 2.8mm. The Original strikes a balance between speed and control, making it a great everyday choice for most coat types.
Plastic or steel handle?
The plastic handle is light and comfortable for everyday grooming sessions. It’s the perfect choice for owners grooming their own dog regularly. Groomers working across multiple dogs and needing fast disinfecting between clients may prefer our steel-handled Pro version instead.
Why it doesn’t cut
Most undercoat rakes on the market are sharp, and sharp tools can damage or destroy a healthy coat. Ours are different. We hand-dull every blade using a special process instead of sharpening it. The teeth lift and remove loose, dead undercoat, but they won’t slice through healthy topcoat. Groomers and puppy owners around the world trust this tool enough to include it in puppy packages and recommend it to new owners.
Best breeds and coats
The Original suits small and big breeds alike, including those with thick coats. It performs brilliantly on Westies, Cairn Terriers, and Norwich Terriers. It’s just as effective on wire coats as it is on silky hair. Wire Fox Terriers, Schnauzers, and Golden Retrievers. German Wirehaired Pointers, Wirehaired Vizslas, Spaniels, Setters and neutered dogs with an abundance of dead undercoat all respond well to it too. And it’s not just for dogs — the blunt, gentle action makes it just as safe and effective for cats with dense or shedding coats, including long-haired breeds like Maine Coons.
How to use it
Hold the skin taut. Work in the direction of hair growth using light, even pressure. Let the wider-set teeth lift the bulk of loose undercoat first. Follow with a second pass to smooth and finish the coat. Because the blades are blunt, you can work confidently around sensitive areas without risking nicks or cuts.
